How much does tile cleaning cost?

Typically you can expect to pay between $0.40 to $0.50 per square foot for ceramic, non-sealed travertine, and marble tile. The cost to clean saltillo can ranGe from $2 to $2.25 per square foot. The final cost of any tile cleaning project is dependent on two main factors: the type of tile you need cleaned, and the amount of effort or work it will take to get the tile looking like new again.

The material cost is pretty straight forward. As for the second part, we often ask our customers to take a look inside their pantry. If it's tiled, it will most often look very similar to how your floors looked when then were brand new. To a tile cleaner we never know how long its been since the floors were cleaned last, how much foot traffic and wear and tear they go through, as well as a host of other considerations. These are the variables that will determine the final cost of your cleaning.

Tile Cleaning FAQ

How long will it take to have my tile floor cleaned?

For an average size room (up to 300 square feet), it will usually take between 30–60 minutes to clean the tile & grout. Of course this can vary depending on the number and size of the tiles, how much soil is in the grout lines, and the configuration of the room. If you decide to have a sealant applied to the grout it typically takes 2–3 hours to complete the entire process.

Is it important to have my tile & grout sealed at the same time?

Grout is porous and absorbs soil and spills. Having a sealant helps create a protective barrier, which gives you more time to clean up any spills or dirt before they soak into the grout. After having your floors cleaned we recommend that you have the grout sealed. If you choose this option, your tile cleaning professional will apply a coat of sealant to your grout lines. If we apply a sealant on the same day that we clean your floors you will be able to walk on the surfaces about four hours after application. If the cleaning and sealing happens in a bathroom we recommend not using a shower for 24 hours after the sealant is applied. When our trained staff applies the sealant, a barrier is created, minimizing the amount of soil that is able to seep into the grout pores. This helps the grout stay cleaner a lot longer. It also helps with maintenance since soil doesn’t penetrate deep into the pores as easily, and instead remains on the surface for you to clean off. The good news is the sealant does not change the appearance of the tile or grout. Keep in mind that newer floor installations may have a latex or urethane grout which does not require sealing. We can help you make this determination when we arrive.

How will you clean my tile & grout?

Our technicians use a specialty cleaning agents that's designed specifically for tile, grout and natural stone. These cleaners are formulated to remove mineral sealing, yellowing soap scum, greasy soils, etc. Once the cleaners have done their job we rinse everything free using a high-pressure, rotary water jet sprayer and extraction system.

How do you seal tile & grout?

We use an impregnating sealant. That means our sealants are water or solvent based solutions that penetrate below the surface and become repellents. They are generally hydrophobic (water repelling), but are also oliophobic (oil repelling). Impregnator sealants are good at keeping contaminants out, but do not stop interior moisture from escaping. As long as you use proper cleaning products on your floors your sealant will repel soil and liquid for a long time.

How can I tell if I have natural stone or ceramic/porcelain tile?

The easiest way to tell is that natural stone often varies in color so no two pieces look the same. Ceramic/porcelain tile have repeating patterns and colors throughout, so every piece will pretty much look the same. If you are unsure of the type of flooring you have, our professional technicians can analyze the materials and determine the type of flooring you have in your home.

Why should you clean your tile and grout?

The same is true for homes, restaurants, hospitals, and offices the world over. Tile and grout flooring are very noticeable to anyone who sees them. This is especially true for grout lines which are porous in nature and easily absorb grease, dirt, mold, mildew and lime scale. Soil, dirt, grime, and spills easily create marks and patches on the grout of tile floors, and as a result can make the entire floor look dirty and unattractive.

From a commercial standpoint, the condition of floors can also have a negative impact on business and visitors. Hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, offices, schools and other organizations are all examples of environments where visitor opinions can mean a loss or increase in revenue. For these reasons and others, it is very necessary to protect, maintain, and preserve tile floors and keep them looking great, and for a hygienic environment.
